The verdict
Buy it if
you want a low-maintenance purifier with a five-year filter and you match the size to your room. For most people the 650 is it.
Skip it if
you specifically need the largest screen for heavy pet hair, in which case I’d step up to the 1300.
What’s good
- All three claim up to five years of HEPA filter life, so you’re not swapping filters constantly.
- Dual intake and washable dust screens. Pop the screen off, wipe the dust, or run water over it to keep the filter cleaner longer.
- Auto mode ramps up when the air quality drops. When I cook it dips to about 70% then climbs back to 100%.
- The 650 and 1300 add a timer, a lock button, and an optional odor neutralizer.
The catch
- The 250 sq ft model has no lock button, so a kid can shut it off by accident and you have to remember to switch it back on.
- The 250 also skips the timer and odor neutralizer that the bigger two include.
- One large unit in a central spot filters slower than a couple of mid-size ones spread around.
What they share
All three Never Change purifiers use the same basic design: dual intake, a HEPA filter rated for up to five years, and a washable dust screen on the front. You pull the screen off, wipe the dust, or rinse it under water, which keeps the main filter cleaner and lasting longer. They all clean well, and the auto mode responds to the room. When I cook, the reading drops to around 70% and then slowly climbs back to 100%.
How the sizes differ
The 250 sq ft is kind of the odd one out. It cleans fine but drops a few features I actually want. There’s no lock button, so a kid can shut it off by accident and you have to remember to turn it back on. The Never also skips the timer and the odor neutralizer that the bigger two have. I don’t really use the odor neutralizer anyway. The house smells fine without it.
The 650 is the sweet spot for me: lock button, timer, and enough coverage for most rooms. The 1300 is the biggest, with two screens and the largest screen area, so it grabs more pet hair. They all work great. I just prefer spreading a couple of 650s around over relying on one big unit in the middle of the house.
How it did in testing
This is a hands-on look at the three sizes next to each other, not a lab test. Here’s how they differ and which one I’d actually buy.
Short version: for me the 650 is the Goldilocks size. Enough coverage and features without going overboard.

How I’d pick
For most people I’d just get the 650. The Never has the features the 250 is missing, and to me it’s the right balance of size and coverage. Honestly I’d rather have a couple of 650s around the house than one big unit in a central spot, since that filters the air faster.
I’d only go to the 1300 if you’ve got a lot of pet hair and want the largest screen to catch it. The 250 works fine, but I’d skip it just for the missing lock button alone.
