Purchased by me

Purple Technic wheels I don’t think I’ve ever seen before, pink and blue accents, Sparkle Smash decals, and pullback that really gets going. It’s durable like the rest of the Technic Monster Jam line. Just watch the horn.

Lego Technic Monster Jam Sparkle Smash

The verdict

Buy it if

you want a bright, durable Monster Jam truck with pullback play that matches the popular Sparkle Smash.

What’s good

  • Bright, fun colors, including purple Technic wheels I don’t think I’ve ever seen before, plus pink and blue pieces that look really nice.
  • Pullback, so you pull it back and it drives away, and this thing can really get going.
  • Super durable like all the other Technic Monster Jam sets.
  • Nice details without being over the top, including the Sparkle Smash decals on the side and the wider front bumper back, unlike last year’s model.

The catch

  • You have to be a little careful with the horn, because it’ll fall off if you’re playing too hard.
  • The pullback is a simple mechanism, so this isn’t a complex Technic build.

What it is

So this is the Lego Technic Monster Jam Sparkle Smash, a bright, colorful monster truck with pullback play. They did a great job with the colors, including purple Technic wheels I don’t think I’ve ever seen before, plus pink and blue pieces. Like the rest of the Technic Monster Jam sets, it’s very durable.

What I found using it

For me the pullback is the fun part. Pull it back and it drives away, and this thing can really get going. The Technic Monster is super durable, so you can play with it hard, and the details are nice without being over the top. The Sparkle Smash decals on the side look good, and they put the wider front bumper back on, unlike last year’s truck.

The one thing to watch is the horn. It’ll fall off if you’re playing too hard with it. That’s really the only catch I ran into.

Who I’d tell to buy it

Any Technic fan or Monster Jam fan is going to love Sparkle Smash. The Technic Monster is such a popular truck now, and it’s great that there’s a durable Technic version to match. If you want a bigger, more complex build, I’d look at the larger Technic sets instead.

How it did in testing

This is a quick hands-on, not a lab test. Nothing below is a score. The Technic Monster is just what stood out to me playing with it.

The colors and the pullback are the story here, and it’s durable enough to actually play with.

TestWhat happenedNote
ColorsBright pink, blue, and purple, including purple Technic wheels.Something new.
PullbackPull it back and it drives away, and it really gets going.Lots of play value.
DurabilitySuper solid like the rest of the Technic Monster Jam line.Made to play with.
Weak spotThe horn falls off if you play too hard.Just be careful with it.

Living with it

So this one nails the bright, fun colors, and the purple wheels are a first for me on Technic. The pullback really gets going, and it’s durable like the rest of the line, so you can play with it hard.

The one thing to watch is the horn, which will pop off if you’re rough with it. Minor. Sparkle Smash is such a popular truck now, and I think it’s great there’s a Technic version to match.
